Crowd Control is a series of four canvases that were painted together. Crowd Control was created in response to Donald Trump’s false claims that Portland is a “hellscape” and his push to deploy the National Guard to our city. These four canvases represent my abstract interpretation of the contrast between order and chaos surrounding the crowd in front of the ICE building.
Rather than depict any specific figure or authority, I chose to express the atmosphere through my own abstract visual language. Focusing on color, texture, movement and the immediacy of the experience.
This painting was a part of Deck the Walls Art Show at Ford Gallery PDX in Portland, Oregon.
