Bottoms Up is a one-of-a-kind modern art painting by artist Janet Antepara.
This piece goes inside the mind of someone trying to understand alcoholism. The words rage and hurt are written within a breast that is crying into a martini glass. A curtain of beer can impressions fading in and out of the canvas symbolize the repetitiveness of drinking. Arrows pointing down towards the word NO written out to look like ants marching evoke feelings of negativity. Antagonistic words are discretely written in white and crossed out to make them appear silenced. Two handprints rest at the bottom of a pool of red. One is normal, one is smudged.
