Ventana is the Spanish word for window. This painting holds a special significance for me. In my childhood home in Los Angeles, my bedroom window stretched as wide as the wall, offering a panoramic view of our patio and my mother's cherished garden. This piece encapsulates a series of cherished recollections centered around gazing out of that ventana: moments of reverie, marveling at my mother's green thumb, inhaling the fragrance of her flowers juxtaposed with the urban essence of Mid-City Los Angeles. Adorned with trinkets and mementos, my windowsill boasted bottles filled with sand and water from beloved beaches alongside an array of stones and crystals. This painting embodies the essence of "home" to me, blending nostalgia and imagination together.
